Performance Evaluation of Tehran Subway Stations

Authors

Abstract:

Efficiency evaluation is one of the major issues in urban transportation. Since the efficiency of the systems is affected by its data and output, what makes the results of the performance evaluation valid and applicable, is selecting the appropriate data and outputs of the system. In this study, the efficiency of the subway stations in Tehran in case of return, compared to the fixed scale, is measured and ranked in a three-year period (2010-2012), by using data envelopment analysis (DEA)[1]; that is a non-parametric method for assessing the performance of the units (DMUs)[2]. Also In this study, by the analysis of the sensitivity of the model, compared to the inputs, their impact on the performance of the stations is examined. The results suggest that, stations of Sadeghiyeh, Shar-e-Rey and Panzdah-e-Khordad, have the highest level of performance and can be used as a proper model for inefficient stations

Criticality-based Model for Rehabilitating Subway Stations

According to the Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA), 140 Billion CAD is required to maintain, rehabilitate, and replace subway infrastructure between 2010 and 2014. The current practice adopted by transit authorities for prioritizing subway stations for rehabilitation is based on the station structural needs. While this classification is reflective of station condition, other factors, su...

Adaptability Analysis of Service Facilities in Transfer Subway Stations

Service capability and matching degree of transfer facilities are directly related to the operational efficiency and safety of a subway station. Owing to differences in planning and construction, the transfer subway stations in developing countries have some defects in facility size and serviceability, which cause a decline in service performance, operation efficiency, and security level. In or...

Subway: Activist Performance through Mediation

Subway is a participatory multi-located activist art project. It builds on the mediation of a dance performance by breaking a video apart into its image frames; creating a photo app in Android to re-use these frames as guides for a frame-by-frame reenactment; and finally reassembling the collected images into a new video. Through the affordances of digital and mobile media, it allowed participa...

Method of Grading Subway Stations Based on Evacuation Capability: A Quantitative Method

Stations are the main components of the subway systems. Despite the progress in the construction and maintenance, stations have always been exposed to the natural and man-made disasters. In such incidents, the station’s evacuation capability has a direct relation with a passenger's life. Various factors affect the station's evacuation capability. Investigation of these factors and evaluation of...
